Taylors Lakes’ Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association season has received a massive boost with the signing of current test player.
The Lions announced on Thursday night that Sri Lankan Oshada Fernando was joining the club for the upcoming season.
“Oshada is a top order batsman who has played 19 tests for his country including the recent test series against Pakistan,” the club’s announcement said.
“Oshada has also represented his country in eight ODI’s and seven T20s. He will proudly wear the number 80 for TLCC, the same as his Test playing shirt number.
“A big welcome to Oshada and his family, wife Saduni and children Okindu and Inudi to the Taylors Lakes Cricket Club, we are extremely excited to have you on board.”
As well as playing Fernando will be an assistant coaching helping with batting technique and is expected to be an important cog in the club’s on field development.
Fernando will arrive in late September, meaning he will be available for round one.
