Fired-up Jets fade away

The Western Jets continue to battle through the TAC Cup season, with Sunday delivering another hefty loss.

The Jets went down to finals-bound Dandenong 20.16 (136) – 8.3 (51).

Although the final score was a blowout, the Jets were able to match it with their more highly fancied opponent in the first half.

The Jets enjoyed strong passages of play and the momentum, kicking 6.2 going into the main break.

But the longer the game went on, the better the Stingrays looked.

Dandenong dominated the second half, booting 12 goals to seal the win.

Despite the high quality of the opposition, Frank Campisi showcased his top-line talent for the Jets. He kicked two goals and won a number of important contests around the ground.

Also impressive for the Jets were Jackson Volpato, Brayden Monk and Oscar Junker. Up forward, Mitchell Norton booted two goals.

Jake Kelly was named best-on-ground for Dandenong.

The Jets will play their final match of the year this week against eighth-placed Calder Cannons.

In other weekend results, North Ballarat defeated Calder, the Northern Knights defeated Bendigo, Gippsland got the better of Sandringham and Geelong edged out Oakleigh.
