Sunshine’s big hitters

Sunshine smashed Altona Roosters around the park in the second round of Victorian Turf Cricket Association T20 competition on Tuesday night.

Crows openers Nikhil Deep Pottabathini (80 not out) and Troy Stone (81) put on 131 for the first wicket and the runs continued to flow after that.

Stone hit six sixes and six fours in his innings, while Pottabathini scored 10 boundaries.

They then bowled the Roosters out for just 70.

Sunshine Heights got home against Point Cook with an over to spare in the other Chappell group game.

Point Cook made 7-154 from its overs, with Sunshine Heights finished 5-155.

Druids made it two from two with a win against Seddon in the Bradman group.

A half century at the top of the order from Shane Windridge helped the Druids set a total of 7-129 from its overs. Seddon was bowled out in the second last over for 105.

Sunshine United opened its account with a win against Abefeldie.

United made 7-124 before restricting Aberfeldie to 9-102.

In the Ponsford group, Craigieburn had little trouble against Greenvale Kangaroos in its match, between the two losers from round one.

The Kangaroos made 7-85, with Jack Wood the only batsman to show resistance making 30.

Brodie Warren took three wickets for Craigieburn.

Craigieburn made the runs in the 18th over, with three players passing 20 in the score of 5-86.

Keilor is the only unbeaten team in that group after beating Westmeadows.

Keilor made 4-187 with Westmeadows only able to make 4-134 in reply.

Deer Park captain Ricky Suvada continued his good T20 form to lead his side to a second straight win in the Woodfull group.

Suvada made 60 as Deer Park put on 4-169 from its overs against Laverton.

Laverton’s top order of Adnan Khawaja (67) and Haseeb Qureshi (53) got their side off to the perfect start, but had no support after that.

The other nine batsmen combined for a total of 11, as the side fell short, 9-149.

Angelo Emmanuel finished with five wickets.

Spotswood also made it two from two with a win Altona North.

Mac Short made 74 as Spotswood put on 7-145.

Altona North was bowled out for 114 in the final over.

Sunshine YCW’s had a big win against Flemington in the Hassett group. YCW’s made 5-137 from their overs before bowling out Flemington for just 54.

Melton South Royals snuck home against Wyndham Vale in the Morris group. Wyndham Vale made 9-127, which the Royals passed with seven balls remaining.

In the Taylor group, Williamstown Congs made it two from two with a win against Footscray ANA.

The Congs made 116, before restricting Footscray to 9-79.

St Andrews defeated Gellibrand by two runs. St Andrews made 7-100, with Gellibrand only able to make 6-98.

Tullamarine opened its account in the Lawry group defeating St Albans by 32 runs, while Airport West St Christophers were too good for Keilor Park.

In the Simpson group, Doutta Stars made it two from two, while PEGS got on the board with wins against St Francis de Sales and West Coburg.

St Andrews Pascoe Vale came away with the win against Haig Fawkner in the Waugh group.

Pascoe Vale Hadfield and East Coburg won their matches in the Border group.
