Sunshine George Cross has bid adieu to its long-time home, Chaplin Reserve.

The Georgies lost 1-0 to Werribee City in the club’s final game at the venue on Saturday, but that could not dampen the mood of the club greats and supporters who gathered to farewell the famous old ground.

City captain Gus Martin scored the last ever NPL2 west goal at the venue in the second minute of the match.

The Georgies will move into a new state-of-the-art venue in Caroline Springs.

Sunshine’s last game of the season will be on the road against Melbourne City at the La Trobe University Playing Fields on Saturday.

St Albans remains on track to finish top in NPL2 west.

A draw is all the Saints need in their final game, against Whittlesea Ranges at Churchill Reserve on Saturday, to stay ranked number one.

The Saints made it five wins on the trot when they beat Bendigo City 2-0 at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve on Saturday evening.

Ryan McGuffie and Michael Grgic found the back of the net for the Saints.

Green Gully’s NPL season came to an abrupt halt in a 5-2 loss to Oakleigh Cannons in the elimination final at Jack Edwards Reserve on Friday night.

The Cavaliers trailed 2-1 at half-time, but were blown away in a disappointing second half.

The Cavs quickly turned their attention to the Tuesday (August 30) FFA Cup clash with Melbourne Knights at Knights Stadium, which will be the end of the road for one of the local clubs.
