It was a successful Junior State Championships for a group of Caroline Springs hockey players.
Six players from the Springers under-14 team played in three teams at the recent state championships.
The under-13 boys North West Tigers team claimed the title, beating the North East Red Devils, 1-0 in the grand final.
Springers’ Aaymann Deol scored the match winning goal, while Royal Mann was in the top 10 goals scored in the tournament.
Ky Lake was a key player in the Tigers’ defence, which conceded just one goal for the whole tournament.
The under-13 North West Tigers girls team lost the bronze medal play-off in a shootout, 4-3 to the Eastern Hotshots.
Laila Ward was the goalkeeper for the Tigers in the grand final and defended well/.
Luca Sinnott played in attack and added drive to the team.
Charlotte Wright, who was an emergency for the Tigers, got her chance for another team and played in both defence and attack.
All six children now return to club hockey half way through the season where they set their sights on the under-14 North West Districts grand final.
They currently sit second.
