Socceroo coaching hits Keilor

A Keilor Downs soccer program is offering local kids the chance to receive free coaching from a Socceroo.

Football Technique Australia is inviting children aged 8 to 13 to trial for a spot in their elite program, where they will receive free coaching from current Socceroo and Melbourne City right-back Ivan Franjic.

FTA football director Ljuban Palinic said it was a chance for talented players to further their skills.

“We focus on individual development, and giving kids a good technical base for decision making,” Mr Palinic said.

“It’s an elite level program, and while we want the kids to have fun too we want them all to improve as individual footballers.”

Mr Palinic said there was also a focus on providing opportunities for talented players in the community that may not be able to afford the often high fees of the elite clubs.

“Fees … at some clubs can be into the thousands of dollars, so we don’t want to see kids missing out … over money,” he said.

The program runs each Saturday morning at Keilor Downs Secondary College, with weekly trials available. Contact FTA via footballtechniqueaustralia.com.au for a trial.
