Hillside’s season has come to an end in the semi finals for a second straight year in Essendon District Football League division 1.

Playing in a knockout semi-final at Joe Brown Reserve in Keilor for a second straight year, the Sharks entered this one against St Albans as favourites.

The result though would be the same as 12 months ago.

The Saints kicked with the wind in the first quarter and piled on the goals to lead by 44 points at quarter time.

The Sharks managed to get on top in the second quarter, but two late goals to the Saints gave them the assencendy heading into half time.

Five goals to three extended the lead for the Saints heading into the final quarter, with the Sharks having the breeze in the last quarter to give them a slight bit of hope.

Two early goals in the last quarter to the Saints put the game beyond doubt.

The heat went out of the game in the second half of the last quarter with the result decided. The Saints won 18.9 (117)-9.11 (65) to continue their finals run.

Natale Caruso and Josh Covelli kicked two goals each for the Sharks, with Covelli well held by Jayden Kretiuk for the second time this season.

Lachlan Pettigrove, Anthony Prestia and Fort Caruso were named the Sharks best.

The Saints will now face West Coburg in a preliminary final for the right to face Maribyrnong Park in the grand final.

The Lions beat West Coburg in the other semi final.
