Runs for Keilor, Deer Park

Keilor and Deer Park piled on the runs in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division on Saturday.

Playing red ball cricket for the first time since before COVID-19, all teams were faced with a different challenge with the longer format.

The Blues enjoyed the extra time at the crease, making 8-324 from their overs against the Druids.

Malith Cooray, who joined the Blues before Christmas from premier club Footscray, made 100 off 94 balls.

Wicketkeeper Chetan Arjun, who came in at number seven, made a handy 71. Nathan Johnson took three wickets for the Druids.

Deer Park, which is searching for a fourth straight win, made 367 as it was bowled out with an over to spare.

Angelo Emmanuel and Roshon Primus both scored 120, putting on nearly 200 for the fourth wicket partnership.

Sunshine United would be happy with the position it is in after day one of its match with Craigieburn.

The Eagles were bowled out for 184 in the 69th over. Thomas O’Brien took three wickets for the Tigers.

The Tigers faced eight overs at the end of the day and got through unscathed, finishing 0-22.

In the other senior division matches, Haig Fawkner and Yarraville Club are on top after day one against Aberfeldie and Westmeadows respectively.

In division 1, Sunshine restricted Doutta Stars to 8-188. Charitha Wijesinghe took three wickets and inflicted a run out.

Altona North made 199 against top side Sydenham-Hillside, bowled out on the final ball.

Tim Grech took three wickets for the Storm.

PEGS will need a miracle against St Francis de Sales on day two of their match. PEGS was bowled out for 105, with St Francis 2-94 in reply.

Tullamarine has already conceded first innings points against West Coburg.

The Demons were bowled out for just 41 in 16 overs.

West Coburg passed that one wicket down and will resume at 6-183.

In division 2, there were wickets galore in Keilor Park’s match with Newport-Digman.

The Bulls were bowled out for just 94 with just three players reaching double figures including Josh Kingston, who top scored with 34.

The Devils also found the going tough and will resume at 5-46.

Caroline Springs set a competitive 8-231 against Pascoe Vale Hadfield in division 3.

Grand United batted for just 54 overs against Point Cook. The Gorillas were bowled out for 134 with Sachintha Silva top scoring with 40.

Point Cook will resume at 3-35.

Sunshine Heights will need a good day with the bat this Saturday against East Keilor. East Keilor made 7-271 from its overs.

In division 5, Sunshine YCW will need some early wickets against Sanctuary Lakes.

Sunshine was bowled out for just 138 with Jakob O’Neill top scoring with 38 at the top of the order.

Sunshine had the perfect start with the ball and had the Sharks at 2-8 at stumps.

Burnside Springs is 1-23 in reply to Jacana’s 181.
