North Sunshine has locked in Max De Groot as its coach for this year’s Western Region Football League division 3 season.
The Roadrunners had a late coaching change with Andrew Scimone having to step down from the role after taking on the club’s presidency.
The club this week said that De Groot brings plenty of experience to the role.
“Max brings a wealth of experience in the WRFL with stints at Tarneit, Glen Orden and Manor Lakes,” the club said on social media.
“We hope he can help develop our new look youthful playing list into a side that can get the [side back to where we belong, being driven and respected.”
De Groot was Tarneit’s inaugural coach when it joined the competition, spending two years in charge.
After that he spent several seasons as a reserves coach for Manor Lakes, before the club’s senior men’s program folded.
Scimone told Star Weekly earlier this year it was a new beginning for the club.
“The club isn’t where we want to be,” he said. “The goal is to get there and set it up for seasons to come.
“This year will be a small step and hopefully things start to take shape behind the scenes and we can have a bit more stability.”
The club is still seeking more players for both its men’s and women’s senior programs. Pre-season has resumed, with both training Mondays and Wednesdays nights from 6.30pm at Tallintyre Reserve.
