Deer Park has started its pre-season with a bang, announcing the signing of two former AFL players for next year’s Western Region Football League division 1 season.

The Lions who have had a number of former AFL players on their list in recent times have signed Levi Greenwood and Aaron Edwards for next season.

Greenwood, who played 160 games with Collingwood and North Melbourne, retired from the AFL earlier this year.

He made the call after speaking with doctors following a series of head knocks.

Edwards played 94 games across three AFL clubs, the last of those in 2014 when he was delisted by Richmond.

The forward has played with several local football clubs since, most recently St Kilda City this year.

He kicked 53 goals in 12 games including a bag of 10.
