Knights, Saints perform strongly

Melbourne Knights and St Albans recorded wins in round seven of the National Premier League while maintaining clean sheets in the process.

The Knights sit in sixth spot on the ladder with four wins after defeating bottom place Hume City 3-0 on Friday night.

The Saints picked up their third win of the season, defeating Heidelberg United 2-0 to break its three-game losing streak on Sunday.

Green Gully suffered its fourth loss on the weekend, losing 3-0 to Bentleigh Greens, which puts them one spot below St Albans on the ladder.

In the opening round of the NPL women’s competition Calder United saw out a 0-0 draw against Box Hill United to begin their season.

In division 3, North Sunshine Eagles recorded a solid 4-0 win over Nunawading City on Saturday afternoon.

Western United took home the points in the derby, defeating Melbourne City 2-1 at home in Caroline Springs.
