The Melbourne Knights came away with a dominant 3-0 win over Eastern Lions in the opening match of round eight of the National Premier League.

Playing at home, the Knights didn’t find the back of the net until the 80th minute through Lionel Masudi.

After the opening goal, they went on to score another two in the proceeding 10 minutes to seal the win.

On Saturday afternoon, St Albans and Green Gully faced off at Churchill Reserve where the match finished 1-1, with Saints forward Zander Guy scoring the equaliser just before half-time to level scores.

In NPL division 3, Western United kicked off the fifth round with a 2-2 draw to Springvale at home in Caroline Springs

Down the road at Larissa Reserve, the home of North Sunshine, the Eagles fell short in a 2-0 loss to Melbourne City.

Whittlesea Ranges travelled to Geelong and were able to pick up a solid 2-1 win over Geelong.

Western United currently sit on top in division 3 with three wins, a draw and a loss.

In NPL women’s Calder United will take on Bullen Lions in an Easter Monday clash, kicking off at 8:15pm.
