Children under the age of 12 will continue to attend Western United home matches for free this A-League season.
Following on from its successful implementation last season, United has announced kids will go free to all home matches.
Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said the support from the club’s young fans is crucial in the present, and will continue to be in the future.
“We are a family club. We want kids to feel welcome at our games and we want them to have fun and feel a part of our family, our community,” he said.
“I am so proud of the club for running this initiative. Our young fans are the future of our club and will be the future of football in the country as a whole.
“Providing a positive experience for families and kids is of great importance to us, and I am really looking forward to seeing the kids of the west wearing the green and black colours on matchday this season.”
Children under-12 will be eligible for a free ticket in the general admission category at every home game this season, while family packages in category A and category B will amount only to the cost of two adult tickets.
The announcement comes as capacity for United’s first match against Melbourne Victory at GMHBA in Geelong has been increased.
After originally being set down for 25 per cent capacity, the club announced last week that the stadium could be 50 per cent full.
Pehlivanis said the result was a welcome boost to kick-off the season and called for all Western United supporters to show their colours at the ground.
“It’s fantastic that Victoria is opening up again and I am so pleased we’ve been able to work with the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust to give more fans the chance to enjoy live football,” he said.
“It’s been a long time without our wonderful fans in the stadium and I know the whole club is looking forward to welcoming them back.”
