Keilor will kick off its Essendon District Football League premier division season with a bang.
Footballers across all three senior men’s divisions will return to the field on April 2, after an extended break with the 2021 season being called off early due to lockdowns.
The Blues start their season against Greenvale, before the week off the following week due to a split round.
They will then face Strathmore in their traditional Good Friday match. The two teams were equal on points on the ladder this year when the season was called, with Strathrmore awarded the premiership as it were sitting on top.
The Blues then face Maribyrnong Park and Aberfeldie to round out the first four rounds.
Premier division finals will kick off on August 27 with the grand final to be held on the weekend of September 10.
In division 1, Hillside has a new opponent on Good Friday due to Taylors Lakes being relegated.
The Sharks will host the Sunbury Kangaroos in the marquee game, which usually attracts a big crowd.
The Sharks will kick off their season ton April 2 against Roxburgh Park.
Finals will start on August 20 with the grand final to be held on the weekend of September 3.
Taylors Lakes kicks off life in division 2 against Coburg Districts.
Keilor Park has a tough start to its season, with matches against Oak Park and Coburg Districts in the first two rounds.
The second of those matches will be on Good Friday, following the successful launch of an annual Good Friday match between the two sides this year.
Burnside Heights starts the season with a bye. The Bears first match will be against Oak Park in round two.
With their ground being upgraded, the Bears will play all their senior home matches at Brookside Recreation Reserve, instead of Burnside Heights Recreation Reserve.
The finals series will run the same weekend as the division 1 finals.
The women’s fixtures will be released next year.
