Keilor Thunder rolls up the ladder

Keilor Thunder is making noise in the Big V men’s state championship.

Back-to-back wins have boosted the Thunder up to third spot on the ladder with a 5-2 record after seven games.

On their home court at the Keilor Basketball Stadium on Sunday, the Thunder enjoyed a 99-83 win over Chelsea Gulls.

Big second and third quarters, in which the Thunder out-scored the visitors 51-32, proved the difference in the game.

Import Mike Anderson was on fire for the Thunder with 40 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

B.J. Symons continued his hot shooting off the bench with 17 points, while Chris Kaba (14), Matt Spencer (13) and Daniaell Herbert (13) all hit double figures.

In the women’s state championship, Keilor Thunder took to the road to dismantle the Warrnambool Mermaids by 50 points

The Thunder’s 99-49 win was led by Erin Bollman, with 25 points and nine rebounds, and Aneta Bandilovski, with 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.

Two consecutive wins have moved the Keilor Thunder up to second with a 4-1 record.

There will be no Big V games during the Easter weekend.
