Keilor grounded in blockbuster loss to Greenvale

Keilor has coughed up top spot in EDFL premier division after an 18-point loss to a gritty Greenvale at Keilor Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

The Blues trailed at every change and could not bridge the gap in the last quarter of a low-scoring affair between two of the competition’s premiership contenders.

David Gourdis was Keilor’s most threatening forward, kicking three goals, while Dylan Joyce showed his class in one of his best games of the season.

Keilor has fallen a game behind new ladder-leader Aberfeldie, but remains two games clear of third-placed Greenvale.

In division 1, Hillside Sharks’ finals aspirations took a blow with a 48-point loss to Tullamarine at Leo Dineen Reserve. The Sharks were on the back foot from the word go, trailed by 21 points at quarter-time and never recovered.

Victor Micallef was handy for the Sharks with three goals, but Tullamarine forward William Becker stole the show with eight goals.

In division 2, Keilor Park took care of business against Coburg Districts, winning by 31 points at Keilor Park Reserve.

Burnside Heights is still looking for its first win after a 68-point loss to East Sunbury at Burnside Heights Recreation Reserve.
