Indoor sports hub plans set to go public

After months of consultation, a draft feasibility study for a Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Hub is expected to be released to the public early in the new year.

Project consultants from Otium Planning Group, appointed by Macedon Ranges council, have met local sports clubs over the past three months to discuss a vision for the indoor sports courts.

Representatives from local volleyball, netball, futsal, basketball, squash and badminton groups have made up the Indoor Sports Reference Group that has been dealing with the consultants.

Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Hub spokesperson Megan Condron said the reference group was “really happy” with the recommendations provided by Otium Planning Group following the consultation process.

In the coming weeks, the consultants will take the draft feasibility study to the council for approval.

The study, which analyses current use, future demand, concept plans, costs, locations and design approaches for indoor sports courts, is then expected to be released for public comment in January or February.
