Two home grown players are the latest signings for Keilor Thunder’s men’s side ahead of their inaugural National Basketball League 1 South season.
While the Thunder has been locking in some new signings for both their women’s and men’s side, they’ve also looked to secure some of their own talent.
Matt Spencer, who has been a key player for the Thunder in recent seasons in the Big V competition, will join the club on its new challenge.
Spencer provides his side with first use, lightning pace, quick hands, strong finishes and phenomenal leadership.
In 2021, he averaged nearly 11 points per game along with five rebounds and five assists. He was second in the league for assists.
He is joined in the squad by Carlo Camp. Camp has played for the Thunder since under-12s and progressed through into the club’s youth league side.
Camp led the Big V youth men championship division in assists, averaging more than five a game in 2021. He also averaged more than 16 points a game.
Camp will make the step up into the senior side this season. In a social media post, the club said he is an exciting and explosive up and coming talent with his speed and athleticism, additional assets to his all round game style.
They join Kian Dennis, Tyler Kidd, Abiola Akintola, Luke Sist and Jacob Lampkin as signings for the men’s team.
On the women’s side, Amy O’Hara is the latest signing.
O’Hara comes across from Hawthorn, having represented Victoria at under age level and having been a scholarship recipient for the Victorian National Performance Program & selection in National Performance Camps at the AIS.
Hailey Wynd, Monique Andriuolo, Chloe Hildebrand, Aneta Bandilovska and Ellen Kett are the other signings announced.
The Thunder’s season will get underway in April.
