Hillside and Keilor Park will have to wait until after the final round on Saturday to find out if they will play finals in their respective divisions of the Essendon District Football League.

In division 1, the fourth-placed Sharks have a bye, so they can only watch and wait.

But Keilor Park is in the box seat in division 2, and should seal fourth place with a home match against winless Burnside Heights.

Hillside stayed fourth with a 16.11 (107)-10.12 (72) win over Glenroy on Saturday.

After both sides had made the most of the wind in the first three quarters, the Sharks sealed the deal by winning the final quarter by four points kicking against the breeze.

Andrew Papazoglou booted five goals for the Sharks, while Thomas Drake was voted best on ground.

The Sharks enter the final round 5.07 per cent ahead of fifth-placed Oak Park, who will be at home to sixth-placed Taylors Lakes in the final round.

Taylors Lakes enters Saturday’s match on the back of a 24.16 (160)-5.7 (37) loss to premiership favourites Craigieburn.

Keilor Park had the chance to seal a division 2 finals spot against East Sunbury on Saturday but instead left the door ajar for the Thunder and Coburg Districts.

The Thunder led at every break to beat the Devils 11.8 (74)-8.10 (58).

That result, along with Coburg Districts’ five-point win over Jacana, means only percentage of 3.79 separates the Devils from fifth-placed Coburg Districts.

East Sunbury sits one game further back and will meet Coburg Districts in the final round.

On Saturday, Burnside Heights recorded its biggest score since round five but they still went down 25.13 (163)-8.4 (52) against East Keilor.

In premier division, Keilor won a thriller against Essendon Doutta Stars.

The Blues led at every break, including by 24 points at the last break, but had to hold off the fast-finishing Stars.

There was only one scoring shot difference in the last quarter but the Stars fell short to lose 15.12 (102)-15.9 (99).

Dean Galea was the star up forward for the Blues, kicking seven goals in a best- on-ground performance.

The win seals a top-two finish for the Blues with two rounds remaining.

The second-placed Blues are three games clear of third-placed Pascoe Vale.
