Green Gully takes junior title

Green Gully has secured the Football Victoria 15/16A girls state title.

The Cavaliers are rebuilding their female football program and the elite teenagers are a key part of the growth expected in the coming seasons.

All it took was a single goal for Green Gully to clinch a 1-0 win over Fawkner in the grand final.

At half-time, scores were locked at nil-all. That was considered a win for Green Gully, considering they were running into a strong breeze in the first half.

While the first 45 minutes was full of grit and determination from the Cavaliers, the second half they looked to find a winner. The goal would eventually come with nine minutes left in the match through Tamila Iluffi.

Illufi pounced on the ball inside the box and tucked it home to spark huge noise from the Green Gully spectators.

The dying minutes were tense, but Green Gully held on to become state champions.
