Sunshine United has appointed Michael Glowacki as its senior coach for the 2023-24 Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division.
The club announced on Wednesday that it believed that Glowacki would be the right person to lead the club forward.
Glowacki said he was excited by the opportunity with the club a second home to him for the best part of his life.
“I am thrilled and honoured to be appointed as the senior coach of the Sunshine United Cricket Club,” he said.
“I want to thank the selection panel and the committee for their vote of confidence in me, and I am excited about the opportunity to prove myself to all supporters and players.
“What you will get from me as a coach is someone who is organised and motivated, as well as someone who will bring enthusiasm and optimism to this role.
“This year, we are going to measure our performance on and off the field more purposefully and adapt our training to cater to our needs.
“I know it means as much to many of you. I will give everything I have to ensure that this club continues to thrive and also, foster a sense of belonging and dedication for all involved.”
“I’m looking forward to getting started in what is going to be a season filled with excitement and hard work”.
United president Paul Cini is excited by the appointment of the club great. Outside of a two year stint with Footscray in Victorian Premier Cricket, Glowacki played his whole career at the Tigers.
“I am extremely pleased that Michael will be our senior coach for the coming season,” Cini said.
“He is eager to get to work and find that 10 per cent extra we need to progress our senior group to push for finals next season.
“He also has a keen willingness to continue the development of our under-16 group from last season and give them every opportunity to progress in our senior ranks.
“I strongly believe exciting times are ahead with Wacky at the helm”.
