New Multi-purpose cricket nets at Kings Park Reserve are among the latest projects funded in the latest round of the state government Community Cricket Program.
Brimbank council was one of 12 councils who were successful in applying for the grants, with more than $1.1 million to be spent about the 12 projects.
Kings Park Reserve is home to St Albans Cricket Club, with the funding and new nets a boost for the club.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said summer means cricket in Victoria which is why they’re getting on with helping clubs and councils build the facilities
they need.
“By investing in better facilities, we’re opening more opportunities for all to get involved in their local club and follow in the footsteps of their cricket heroes.”
Cricket Victoria chief executive Nick Cummins said these projects will inspire even more locals to pick up a bat and ball and join their local cricket club.”
Applications for the next round of funding is open.
This funding round will provide more than $1.5 million to community clubs and councils to develop or redevelop local cricket infrastructure, from training nets through to female friendly and accessible change rooms.
