The connection between the biggest and the smallest players is one of the key drivers at Keilor Park Soccer Club.
The club’s Little Eagles Program, provides a fun and safe introductory program designed for new players between the ages of four and seven.
The program allows players to get active, make new friends, develop social skills and play within a team environment.
With the club priding itself on not only player development, many players from older age groups are getting involved in the coaching side of things.
“Keilor Park Soccer Club prides itself on not only building a player development pathway but also providing opportunities for our future coaches of the game to ensure they play their part in the sports sustainable and long term future,” said Little Eagles coordinator Pina Mollica.
“The club is proud to be supporting several junior coaches in their coaching journey, through their accreditation and practical coaching experience facilitated by our senior coaches.”
Among those part of the club’s coaching development team is under-20s player Ethan Bikakis, who is currently studying year 12 with strong ambitions to pursue sports and exercise science, Halle Hughes, who plays in the women’s reserves side, who loves working with children and growing her coaching skills.
Marcus Parapouras, is a current junior player, who enjoys coaching the little Eagles and is keen to continue to develop his coaching skills, while Michael Smirniotis, is another current junior player, who loves sharing his passion for the game and has a keen interest in progressing his coaching skills.
Senior men and women’s players also attend the Little Eagles program throughout the term.
“As the coordinator I enjoy seeing the smiles on the players faces and the proud parents cheering encouragement from sidelines, it truly is where the love of football begins,” Mollica said.
The program runs on Saturday mornings with term two to kick off this weekend.
