Deer Park’s big win

Deer Park returned to the green with a massive win against Lilydale in Bowls Victoria premier division weekend pennant on Saturday.

In the first round since the Christmas break, Deer Park claimed victory in three rinks and tied the fourth to claim a 17 (100)-64 (1) win at home.

Nathen Bush’s rink had a 32-17 win, while James Pearce’s rink had a 28-11 win. Ryan Tainton’s rink had a much closer battle, winning 19-15.

Tyson Crombie skippered his rink to a 21-all draw.

The massive win came for the Parkers despite missing some of their big names.

Deer Park is sitting third on the ladder, with the race for a top four spot heating up. There are just 11 points separating the top six sides.

In other matches, Bundoora RSL had a convincing win against Altona, Yarraville Footscray claimed 16 points against Clayton, Melbourne had a clean sweep against Croydon and MCC beat Mentone.

Meanwhile in division 2, section 1 Keilor had a big win against Broadmeadows.

Keilor won three of the rinks in the 111 (17)-70 (1) win.

Rajah Nithiananthan’s rink was the big winner, winning 35-14.

Keilor sits second on the ladder, 15 points behind Craigieburn.
