Deer Park overran by Altona

Deer Park will need to bounce back if it’s to keep its season alive after losing to Altona in its Western Region Football League division 1 qualifying final.

For the first half, it was the Lions that looked like they would get the win and have a match up with Caroline Springs for a spot in the grand final.

The Lions led by 25 points at half time and still held a 23 point lead at half time.

The Vikings found another gear in the third quarter, kicking seven goals to nil to turn the deficit into a 20 point lead.

The Lions weren’t able to fight back in the last quarter, losing 14.12 (96)-10.15 (75).

Spiros Amarantidis kicked three goals and was his side’s best.

Joel and Connor Menadue kicked three goals each for the Vikings in the win.

The Vikings now face Caroline Springs for a spot in the grand final.

The Lions will play Werribee Districts in the other semi final after the Tigers beat Hoppers Crossing.

The Tigers trailed all day, before kicking four goals to three in the final quarter to win, 13.14 (92)-12.13 (85).

Trent Lee kicked six goals for the Tigers in a best on ground performance.

In division 3, Braybrook kept its season alive with an eight point win against Sunshine Heights.

The Dragons led for much of the game, but it was the Brookers who came home strong, winning 13.11 (89)-12.9 (81).

Shaun Buttigieg-Clarke kicked four goals to take his season tally to 97. Nick Gregson was named their best.

The Brookers will face Albanvale for a spot in the grand final.
