Deer Park extends unbeaten run

Deer Park continued its unbeaten run in division 1 of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association over the weekend.

They now have seven wins to sit a comfortable six points clear of second place St Francis de Sales and Altona North, although both of those clubs have only played six matches.

Deer Park was able to extend its winning streak on the back of a strong performance over Airport West.

Deer Park’s first innings total of 166 proved too high a price for Airport West, who were knocked over for 129 by Deer Park’s bowling attack.

Jarlanie Seales was most profitable with ball in hand as he claimed 4/39 in his eight over spell.

Elsewhere in the competition St Francis de Sales defeated Sunshine at Dempster Park.

A 61-run haul from Prasanna Ketheenshwaran wasn’t enough to lift Sunshine to victory, who were bowled out for 180, falling just short of St Francis’ 6/198.

Sunshine now sit in fourth on the ladder with four wins and three losses.

Tullamarine suffered its fourth loss of the season to Altona North.

Altona North chased down Tullamarine’s total of 134 in just 31 overs, finishing the match 3/136.

The win lifted Altona North to third place on the table while Tullamarine remain in sixth.
