Coaching change at Reds

Sydenham Park moved quickly to lock in a new coach following the departure of Goran Lozanovski.

The Reds announced that Lozanovski was on the move after just one season at the FV state league 1 north-west club, with the club saying it and the former coach parting ways mutually.

Lozanovski was soon announced as National Premier League club Altona Magic’s new coach, a club where he had rich history.

In Lozanovski’s one season at the Reds, the club finished in second spot, nine points behind league champions Altona City.

While normally two teams get promoted, this year just the top side will move into the National Premier League 3 competition in a disappointing decision for the Reds, which missed promotion by one spot in the 2022 season as well.

Just days after the announcement of Lozanovski’s departure, the Reds announced that Milan Batur has been appointed senior coach for next season.

They didn’t have to look far to find the man they believed was right for the job.

“The club is delighted to have Milan take over and looking forward to a successful season ahead,” the club said on social media.

“Milan had a successful and decorative playing career which seen him playing senior football with Western Suburbs, North Geelong and captaining Melbourne Knights in the NPL.

“On retirement he came to Sydenham Park as a senior assistant to Deni Lisolajski. Batur has spent the last three years as an assistant and truly deserves this achievement.”

The club has previously announced the signing of Roger Borg as its state league 2 north-west women’s coach.

With 16 years of coaching experience under his belt, Borg has a dedication and passion for woman’s football.

“It’s all about developing people and players, sharing common goals equals success and growth,” he said.
