Brimbank Bucks welcomed the Northern Panthers for a special game in Rugby Union Victoria’s first grade.
Celebrating NAIDOC week, the Bucks held a ceremony before the day’s games kicked off.
The top-of-the-table Bucks then turned it on, with a 36-8 win against the Panthers.
The win though wasn’t an easy one, with the Panthers putting a lot of pressure on right from the start.
The Panthers were the first to score, before Brimbank duo Farrell Maota and Tagaloa Fonoti scored to give the Bucks a 17-8 lead at the break.
The second half was all Brimbank on the scoreboard. The Panthers forwards and scrums though continued to make it a hard day for the Bucks.
Michael Tavita, playing an extra cover role in the backs, made it much easier for the Bucks backs to score a few more tries late.
Fonoti was named best on ground.
The Bucks second grade side beat Cerberus 48-45. They have now won five games in a row.
The under-18s beat Box Hill, 28-0.
