Batting woes continue for Taylors Lakes

Taylors Lakes slumped to a fifth straight loss on the back of another below par batting performance, this time against Ormond in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association south-west.

With the game being restricted to 28 overs a side due to a late start because of wet weather, Ormond won the toss and elected to bat.

Ormond made 4-191 from its overs.

George Sakkas took three wickets for the Lions.

The Lions were in trouble at 3-26 before a small partnership. That would be the end of the joy for the Lions, who were bowled out for just 92.

Lachlan Marr top scored with 24 before being run out.

The Lions remain in 12th.

Altona got its second win of the season with victory against Elsternwick.

After sending Elsternwick in, the A’s were able to bowl Elsternwick out for 164 in the second last over.

Shannon Clarke and Callum Hands took three wickets each for Altona.

After losing an early wicket, Altona steadied and was sitting 1-66. The A’s lost two quick wickets, but got going and finished 4-168.

Skipper Adam Yates top scored with 64 not out.

Altona sits 14th.

Williamstown made it two wins in a row with victory against Port Melbourne.

Port Melbourne made 7-181 from its overs.

Patrick O’Malley and Sean Sturrock took two wickets each.

After losing an early wicket, the Seagulls recovered and made the runs with one over remaining.

They finished 4-183 with Brenton Hodges top scoring with 83 not out.

Werribee continued its good form with victory against Malvern.

Malvern made 170 as it was bowled out in the final over.

James Freeman took four wickets for the Tigers.

Werribee didn’t have much trouble in the chase, finishing 6-176.

Tim O’Brien continued his good form with the bat, making 45.

The win sees Werribee move up to fifth.

Yarraville suffered a big loss against Oakleigh.

Oakleigh made 6-171 from its overs, with Yarraville bowled out for 99 in reply.

Hoppers Crossing lost to Moorabbin.

Moorabbin made 8-177 from its overs with Brett Smith and Jeremy Swan taking three wickets each for the Cats.

The Cats were bowled out for 101.

Ajay Bhatt top scored with 22.

The Cats sit 10th.

Melton and Spotswood had to settle for sharing the points, with the wet weather leading up to the game preventing any play.

The result means Spotswood slips to fourth, while Melton remains bottom.
