Auskick for a cause

Overnewton Auskickers will be kicking for a cause this weekend, raising money and awareness for breast cancer research with their Mums Matter fundraiser.

The Auskick centre will raise money for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia throughout the morning as part of its regular Auskick clinic.

Organiser Mel West said community support for the event was always great to see.

“Our local businesses have opened their hearts and have embraced Overnewton Auskick and the broader community to raise awareness and funds for BCNA,” Mr West said.

“The business community are seldom praised for their contribution to our community, however many have offered great support to make the event a success.

“We open our program to all in the community to come along on the day to join in and recognise the women in our lives. Every year we try and give back to our community and recognise a cause and this year we settled on breast cancer, because it’s touched so many in the community.”

The day will feature inflatable games, stalls and raffles with prizes from local businesses.

The Mums Matter event will also include a visit from Melbourne AFL Women’s captain Daisy Pearce.

“It will be great to have Daisy down to show her support,” Mr West said.

The event will run from 9.30-11am at 39-57 Robertsons Road, Taylors Lakes.
