Keilor had to fight hard to come away with the points against Avondale Heights in the Essendon District Football League premier division. Avondale Heights stuck with the Blues for three quarters, with the margin just one point at the last break, but the Blues found something extra to win, 15.5 (95)-11.10 (76). Matthew Clark kicked four goals for the Blues, while Todd Stevenson was named their best. The Blues sit second after 14 rounds. In division 1, Hillside wasn’t able to hold off Westmeadows, while in division 2, Keilor Park beat Oak Park and Burnside Heights was too good for Taylors Lakes.

WRFL

Ben Doll had his kicking boots on for Albion in the Western Region Football League division 2 competition. Doll kicked 16 goals in a best on ground performance as the Cats beat West Footscray, 32.19 (211)-3.3 (21). With Newport beating North Footscray and Wyndhamvale losing to Parkside, the Cats now sit fourth. Point Cook Centrals smashed Glen Orden in the other game. In division 3, Braybrook, the Suns and Albanvale all had big wins.

FV

Caroline Springs George Cross moved one step closer to the title in the FV state league 1 north-west competition. The Georgies beat Clifton Hill, 3-1, after leading 2-0 at half time. The Georgies remain five points clear of the Essendon Royals. Sydenham Park and the Brimbank Stallions both jumped third placed Banyule City, and sit four points behind the Royals.

NPL

Melbourne Knights were denied victory due to a late penalty in their match against Dandenong Thunder in the National Premier League. The Thunder scored before half time, before the Knights equalised late in the piece. A penalty gave the Thunder the chance to win the game, which they converted to come away with the points 2-1. Meanwhile, two first half goals were enough for Green Gully to account for Hume City, with the Cavaliers winning 2-0. In NPL 3, the North Sunshine Eagles beat Doveton 3-0.
