NAB League

The Western Jets claimed their first ever premiership with victory in the NAB League Girls grand final on Friday night. The Jets came from behind to get the win in the dying minutes, beating the Dandenong Stingrays, 7.5 (47)-5.11 (41). Caitlin Sargent kicked two goals in the win, while skipper Charlotte Baskaran was outstanding with 26 possessions.

FV state league

Caroline Springs George Cross continued its winning start to the season in FV state league 1 north-west. Facing neighbouring Sydenham Park, scores were locked at 1-1 at half time. A Jason Hart goal in the 77th minute would put the Georgies in front for the first time and it was enough to seal the 2-1 win. In other matches, Keilor Park had a 2-1 win against Corio. In state league 2 north-west, Westgate lost to Lalor United 3-2 and Altona East Phoenix beat Albion Rovers 2-0.

WRFL

Deer Park opened its account in the Western Region Football League division 1 competition against Sunshine. The Lions were in control right from the start, extending the lead every quarter on the way to a 21.22 (148)-7.9 (51) win. Kwame McHarg kicked six goals in his first game back at the club. Thomas Mundy was the Kangaroos best. Caroline Springs made it two from two, beating Yarraville Seddon Eagles. Twelve scoring shots to two in the first quarter set the tone, with the Lakers winning 26.22 (178)-4.7 (31). Ryan Allan kicked 11 goals.

EDFL

Taylors Lakes is on the board in the Essendon District Football League division 2. The Lakes controlled most of the game on the way to a 12.19 (91)-6.10 (46) win. Luke Nappi kicked three goals. Burnside Heights also got its first win of the season, beating Hadfield. The Bears led at every break in the 12.6 (78)-9.12 (66) win. Keilor, Hillside and Keilor Park all had byes ahead of Good Friday clashes this week.
