BSW

The Western Region Football League has revealed its structure for its men’s competitions next season. With the departure of division 1 clubs, St Albans and Deer Park, the division 1 competition is down to eight teams. Point Cook Centrals have been promoted into division 1, while the Sunshine Kangaroos will play in division 2. Joining the Kangaroos in division 2 is Braybrook that won the division 3 premiership this year, with it to be an eight team competition. West Footscray will play in division 3 as part of a seven team competition.

A-League

Western United has expressed its disappointment about the decision to play the A-League men’s and women’s in grand finals in Sydney for the next three season. The Australian Professional Leagues announced it had signed a deal with the New South Wales government to hold the games in Sydney the next three years, instead of the highest ranked team hosting. In a statement, United said it wasn’t consulted on the decision nor does it support it.

VTCA

Rain played havoc as the Victorian Turf Cricket Association T20 competition last week. Several matches were set down for last Tuesday night, but wet weather meant they didn’t go ahead. Keilor’s match with West Coburg, St Andrews and St Albans, Grand United’s and Deer Park’s, Caroline Springs and Sydenham-Hillside’s matches were among them.

FV

The FV state league men’s season will get underway in March. Football Victoria announced its community competition calendar for next season, having already released the National Premier League senior fixtures. The men’s state league competition kicks off on March 18, while the women’s state league competitions start on April 23. The women’s Victorian Premier League kicks off on March 26.
