Keilor Park had no troubles against Taylors Lakes in the Essendon District Football League division 2 on Saturday. After a one point win last time the two teams played, there would be no thriller this time round. The Devils took control of the game in the second quarter after being goal less in the first term. A 10 goal final quarter would seal the big win, 19.9 (123)-3.9 (27). Damien Cavka kicked five goals. Burnside Heights came away with the win against Jacana, 27.24 (186)-6.9 (27). In division 1, Hillside beat Craigieburn, 12.11 (83)-5.9 (39).

Albion’s finals hopes remain alive in the Western Region Football League division 2 competition. On Saturday, the Cats got a vital win against North Footscray. The game was close throughout with the Cats leading at every break, eventually winning 9.10 (64)-7.11 (53). Ben Doll kicked five goals. The Cats sit in fifth spot, four points behind fourth. In other results, Newport beat Glen Orden, Point Cook Centrals snuck home against Parkside and Wyndhamvale beat West Footscray.

NPL

Green Gully came away with the points against the St Albans Saints on Friday night in the National Premier League. The Cavaliers scored in the sixth minute to take the lead and it looked like a 1-0 score line would be the result for much of the game. Alex Salmon scored in the 90th minute to seal the 2-0 win late. The Cavaliers sit sixth, but have a game in hand on the sides above. The Melbourne Knights had a 2-0 win against the Eastern Lions. In NPL 3, North Sunshine Eagles beat the Springvale White Eagles, 3-2.

Westgate’s hopes of promotion remain well and truly alive after an upset win against Upfield on Friday night. Westgate knocked off the top side 3-0, including twice within a five minute period midway through the second half. Westgate sit in fourth spot on 32 points, only two points behind second and third, but have a game in hand. Albion Rovers, who were hoping to keep in touch with the top sides, lost 5-2 to Mill Park. Western Suburbs had a 1-1 draw with Moreland United.
