Alex Marshall signs with Deer Park

Deer Park continues to be a club in demand with arguably the world’s greatest ever bowler, Alex Marshall signing with the club for 2022.

The club announced on Wednesday, Marshall would represent the club for the majority of the 2022 season.

First up he will join the club’s premier division side in Bowls Victoria weekend pennant.

Marshall, a proud Scotsman, needs no introduction to Australia.

He’s been a regular visitor playing in all the country’s major events such as the Ultimate Bowls Championships and BPL and calls Australia his second home.

In a Facebook post, the club said that Marshall has been regarded as the Messi of lawn bowls.

“A winner of an incredible 21 world titles, a gold medallist on five occasions at Commonwealth Games level and is Scotland’s most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history,” the post said.

Deer Park Club general manager David Thompson was thrilled with the news.

“The Deer Park Club has a vision to ensure our bowls department becomes the best and under the leadership of Mark Casey, we believe we are well on our way,” he said.

“Welcoming a player of Alex Marshall’s stature in the sport to our club is simply incredible. We are providing our members a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share experiences with a true legend of the game. That’s what it’s all about.”
