Sunshine is on the hunt for a new coach after Brett Jacobs stepped down from the WRFL side on Saturday.
Jacobs informed the players of his decision after his side’s 49-point loss to Spotswood.

Sunshine president Craig Ryan said Jacobs, who resigned because of work and family commitments, had done an outstanding job at the Kangaroos.
“He came to us as a highly credentialed captain and player. He turned out to be a fantastic coach,’’ Ryan said.
‘‘He’s still keen to be involved around the place, but the size of the job is just too big a commitment.”
Jacobs joined Sunshine in 2010, crossing from WRFL rivals Port Melbourne Colts. He did a brilliant job with the Kangaroos and was the WRFL’s coach of the year in 2013, when he took Sunshine to a preliminary final.
Earlier this season he coached the competition’s interleague side in the Vic Metro Championships.
Under the leadership of Jacobs, the WRFL smashed Southern Football League by 37 points at Visy Park.
“Coaching the interleague side was a really well deserved honour for Brett,” Ryan said. “We certainly think he was one of the best coaches going around in the league.”
However, the 2014 WRFL season has been a disappointing one for the Kangaroos, with the club unable to back up its strong performance last year.
After going into the season as a hot favourite to play finals, Sunshine won just six games.
The club will begin the search for a replacement this week.
In other news out of Sunshine, Tom Millar is hanging up the boots.
The ruckman and forward made the WRFL’s team of the year in 2012.
“Tom is a two-time best and fairest winner and a great bloke both on and off the field,” Ryan said. “He will be missed, that’s for sure.”
