Ever since it debuted in the Western Region Football League senior competition four years ago, Caroline Springs has had one goal – continual improvement.
After a steady climb up the ladder in their early days, the Lakers have taken huge strides this year.
Their haul of eight wins from 12 matches is easily the best in the club’s history and has allowed Caroline Springs to guarantee itself a place in division 2 as the league prepares to break into a three-tier format in two weeks.

The Lakers have no plans to slow down and hope to make more history in the second half of the season.
Football manager Marc Raak says a finals berth is next on the hit list. “We’re absolutely delighted that we are staying in division 2,” Raak said.
“Our other goal was to get as high up the ladder as possible. ‘‘With only eight sides in the competition, they’re going to play a final four finals series.
“We are fifth at the moment, but we are trying everything we can to finish higher and play our first finals game. That would be sensational for our club.”
Caroline Springs is two games outside the top four.
The WRFL released its draw for the division 2 and 3 splits last week. The Lakers will take on Manor Lakes, West Footscray, Glen Orden, North Footscray and Wyndhamvale in the
run home.
With West Footscray in fourth spot on the table, the round 15 match against the Roosters looms as a defining game for both sides.
After numerous list changes in the off-season, Raak is confident his club will be able to produce its best footy late in the season.
“We always said the better half of our season would be the second half,” he said.
“We’re delighted with our draw from rounds 13 to 18.
“We are here to play some good football. We have a healthy list.
‘‘At the moment we have a few people playing in the twos who are putting pressure on senior players.
“We’re in good shape and we want to finish off the season really well.’’
