Big V: Visiting teams steal Thunder’s thunder

Keilor Thunder had a tough night on the court on Saturday, with both its women’s and men’s side going down in close home games.

The women’s division 1 side lost 78-70 in overtime after normal time against Latrobe City finished 61-all.

In a game which was even all night, Thunder started the better of the two sides to take the lead at quarter-time.

The Energy hit back in the second and third terms to take a four-point lead into the last break.

But despite having six more field goal attempts in the last term, the Energy couldn’t prevent Thunder from levelling the scores.

Energy ran away from Thunder in overtime to clinch the victory.

Jessica Francke top-scored for Thunder with 21 points.

In division 2 men’s, a poor first term cost the Thunder, who lost 80-74 to the Keysborough Cougars.

The Thunder scored only two field goals in the first term, allowing the Cougars to take an 11-point lead by quarter-time.

After the break the Thunder started to hit their shots but didn’t make much impact on the scoreboard, despite shooting at better than 50 per cent from the field for the final three quarters.
