Deer Park will have to wait until round two to unfurl its Western Region Football League division 1 flag next year.
The Lions, one-point winners over Spotswood this year, will travel to local rival St Albans in the first game of the season on April 5, a Friday night.
Deer Park’s first home-game will be against Werribee Districts – making the cross from the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s B-grade – on April 12.
The following Friday the Lions will play Albion in one of two Anzac Day clashes next year. The first of two grand final rematches will be on May 10.
Sunshine will not meet a finalist until Deer Park in round four, and it hosts an Anzac Day clash against Werribee Districts.
The Kangaroos had a positive 2013, making the preliminary final before bowing out against Deer Park by 110 points.
Three of its last four games next year are against finalists from this season.
Albion had a lacklustre 2013, finishing eighth with only four wins, and it has a tough month to begin 2014, playing Altona, St Albans, Deer Park and Spotswood.
Division 2 will split into two divisions after 13 rounds when every team has met once.
Tarneit is making its WRFL debut, meaning the second division will comprise 14 teams, given that Glen Orden declined promotion to division 1 and North Footscray was relegated.
Eight teams will contest division 2 and six division 3 after 13 rounds.
