Sunshine has its second win of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association east-west first XI season, chasing down Mt Waverley in a tight finish on Saturday.
Resuming at 0-8 in reply to 159, Sunshine looked set to coast to victory by reaching 1-80 by tea.
But three quick wickets broke the game open and gave Mt Waverley a sniff.
Captain Kane Twentyman and David Bonavia took the team into triple figures before Mt Waverley struck again with another series of quick wickets.
The match went down to the wire, with the Crows needing two runs off the final over but with only one wicket left. Kapelan Kulendranathan got the winning runs.
Coach Mark Brown preached patience with his side as they go about finding winning form.
“There’s been a bit spoken around the club about there not being enough wins on the board but it’s going to take a bit longer than people expect,” he said.
“We have four or five new guys and one of the youngest teams in first XI sub-district cricket. It’s going to take a little bit of time.
“The opposition bowled very well, a lot of maidens, a lot of dot balls. The pressure was on and it came down to the last over. Kapelan got the winning runs, four all-run.
“It was good to get a win in a very tight game. We got the job done in the end.”
Sunshine faces its sternest test yet over the next fortnight, playing away to unbeaten Werribee.
