FFV: St Albans Saints on the slide

St Albans Saints are consigned to a bottom half of the ladder finish in the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 1.

The Saints’ miserable form continued with a 4-1 loss to Box Hill
United in the catch-up round at Wembley Park, Box Hill on Saturday.

They have lost their past three matches with a combined goal difference of -9.

The Saints will play their last home game of the season in an
all-west affair against Altona Magic at Churchill Reserve on Sunday.

The full slate of state league 2 games could not have panned out any worse for local clubs.

Keilor Park, second on the table and the only local side not
to play on Saturday, were extinguished from the title race as a result
of Moreland City beating its neighbours Sydenham Park 2-0.

Westgate was also rolled 2-0 in its clash with inconsistent Altona East Phoenix.

In state league 3, Cairnlea kept hold of top spot with a 3-0 crushing of Westvale, all but ending the Vales title hopes.

North Sunshine Eagles started a busy week with a 2-1 win over Yarraville.

The Eagles will front up tomorrow night for another catch-up game against Geelong at Grange Reserve at 8.30pm.

Western Eagles had an entertaining 3-2 win over FC Strathmore in state league 4.

While in state league 5, Spring Hills FC was downed 2-0 by Altona North and Sunshine Heights Western Tigers were thrashed 6-0 by Laverton Park.
