Big V women: Thunder lines up for awards rewards

Keilor Thunder is in line for more accolades in the Big V basketball women’s division 2.

Thunder came from fourth on the ladder to win this year’s title in
a sweep of the Casey Cavaliers in the best-of-three grand final series.

Not surprisingly, Thunder was well represented in All
Star nominations, with Kat Black short-listed for the defensive player
of the year award, Jodi Impey among the MVP favourites and coach Carey Paps a red-hot chance of the coach of the year award.

In men’s division 2, the Thunder had captain Matthew Jukes
(forward) and Andrew Freeman (centre) nominated for the All Star team.

Up-and-coming youngster Mitchell Lukey is a chance for the rising
star award, while runner-up coach Peter Jukes is a chance to take out
the coach of the year award. The Big V awards dinner is on September 21.
