The Thunder ventured to Melton for game two on Saturday night and
could not gain any real traction in a 75-60 loss with captain Matthew
Jukes not at 100% with an ankle niggle.

Thunder coach Peter Jukes told the Weekly that he was proud of the efforts of his players to fight it out till the bitter end.

“I think in that last quarter he [Melton coach Grant Spencer] got really nervous, he had to put his starters back on,” he said.

“I had my bench on at that stage and we were coming back and he had to go to his starters and his big guns to quell that.

“It’s a tribute to our boys, we never gave up the whole game, our guys kept going and going.”
