FFV: Western Suburbs draw despite triple treat

WESTERN Suburbs and Box Hill United entertained the neutrals in a 3-3 draw in the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 1.

While the attacking play was pleasing on the eye, it did little to improve the promotion chances of the two middle-of-the-road teams.

Suburbs is bogged down in seventh, eight points away from the top two. St Albans Saints are similarly placed on the table after a nil-all draw away to improving North Geelong Warriors.

Sunshine George Cross, riding high in second spot, played against Bulleen Lions last night after the Weekly went to print.

In state league 2 north-west, Sydenham Park have moved up to second after a 3-0 demolition of fellow title contender Keilor Park. Westgate further enhanced their reputation as the draw specialists of the league with a nil-all result on the road at Brunswick City.

In state league 3 north-west, Cairnlea kept its four point buffer at the top with a 3-1 win over Banyule City after a double to Adamson Ajayi.
