CITY West Falcons have secured second spot and a double chance in the Victorian Netball League championship division finals.
The Falcons’ destiny was in their own hands heading into the last home-and-away round and they completed their mission with a nail-biting 39-38 win over the Southern Saints at the State Netball and Hockey Centre on Wednesday night.
The title-holding Falcons will meet top-ranked Peninsula Waves in the major semi-final tomorrow night, with the winner to advance to the grand final.
VU-Western Lightning will have to take the long route if it wants to feature in consecutive season deciders but will enter the finals in poor form, thrashed 48-38 by Monash University Central in the last round.
But they won’t have to wait too long to exact revenge, with the sides meeting in a cut-throat semi-final tomorrow night.
The semi-finals will be at the SNHC with a late 9.40pm start after under-19s and division 1.
