Cairnlea Park Primary School pupil, Emilie, has been recognised as part of the 2021 Young Australian Art awards.

Emilie was one of the winners of the C.D Dodd Indigenous award, with more than 30,000 students entering from across Australia.

Her piece was titled ‘Guragalung’. Brimbank mayor Jasmine Nguyen earlier this month presented Emilie with her award.

Fellow students Liana and Raziel were also finalists in the art awards.

It’s been a big few weeks for pupils of the school, with several recognised for their writing skills.

Earlier this year pupils participated in the PETAA Young Writers program, which was conducted by author, Meredith Costain.

Following on from this program, pupils were encouraged to submit writing for potential publication in Oz Kids in Print magazine.

Some of the school’s grade five and six pupils were also provided with the opportunity to write a book review for the magazine.

Several of the pupils have had their work published in the latest edition. Lara had a poem and book review and Hoang had a story published.

Brahmjot, Michelle, Emily and Marlin all had book reviews published.
