Talented young artists from across Brimbank are shining in a new exhibition which kicked off last week.

Mary Zakanj is one of the artists involved in the YouthNow Exhibition, run by the YouthNow and Gallery Sunshine

She said she jumped at the chance to show her work to a wider audience.

“I’m part of YouthNow and one of the teachers asked if I wanted to get involved,” she said. “I had shown her my work before.

“I then asked my sister whether she wanted to be involved as well. One of my pieces was a sculpture made out of paper mache and plaster that I had made for a contest that hadn’t been accepted. I was able to give it some life.

“I also printed some of my old artwork and framed them. They are nice big prints.”

Zakanji, whose art prints are for sale, said it was amazing to see the works of the other students as well.

“There are some really exciting artists there,” she said of the exhibition. “It was nice to meet them as well.”

The exhibition will run at the Granary Café in Sunshine until July 25.
