A Sunshine West table tennis facility will soon be serving up the world’s best players.

Loops Table Tennis has just been made Australia’s first national training centre, making it the country’s premier table tennis facility.

Owner Simon Gerada said it’s reward for hard work.

“Three times a week the national team will train here. That means the Commonwealth Games team and the Olympic team will be training here,” he said.

“We’ll also have international training camps and guests coming in and using the facility. The world’s best will be here.”

The accreditation caps off a busy time for Loops, which has two major tournaments this week.

The Melbourne Open will be held from January 26-27 and is open for players of all ages and skill levels.

The club will also host the National Hopes championships which will feature 30 of the country’s best junior players from January 21-25.

The event serves as a pathway to world level competitions.

Mr Gerada said it’s a good opportunity for locals to see a high level tournament in their own backyard.
