The Keilor Golf Club is calling on local women to hit the green.
In a bid to raise its numbers, the club has begun a number of female-friendly initiatives.
Keilor Golf Club coach Scott Wearne said recent come and try days had been a major success.
“We had two come and try days recently where we encouraged women to come out and give the sport a go,” he said.
“It was really well attended with an average of about 25 people turning up over both days.”
Following the strong turnout, Mr Wearne said the club has expanded its offering.
“I’ll be holding a series of clinics just after Easter,” he said. “They’ll go for five weeks on a Tuesday and Thursday morning and are available to women of all abilities. We’ve also got a club starting which will have ladies competitions held on Fridays and Saturdays, so there’s no shortage of opportunities.”
The club competitions will be both nine and 18-hole events.
Mr Wearne said there are numerous benefits to playing the sport and encouraged all local women to head down to give it a try.
“It’s a healthy, fun way to meet new people and try something new,” he said. “It’s a relaxed atmosphere and a good way to learn a few new skills.”
