Woman rushed to hospital after multi-vehicle crash on Western Ring Road

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a multi-car collision on the Western Ring Road in Derrimut.

Two lanes have been closed on the M80 Altona bound after a truck hit a car, which then hit another truck near Boundary Road about 9am this morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident to free a woman who was trapped in her car.

The 74-year-old from Bacchus Marsh, who was the only occupant in the car, was freed and taken to the Royal Melbourne hospital.

The two left lanes on the freeway remain closed inbound.

A VicRoads spokesman said motorists should add an extra 10-to-15 minutes to their journey if they need to travel on the affected part of the freeway.
